WRITE YOUR MESSAGE TO THE KAMI

This Ema depicts two horses: white and black. The white horse represents a bright, successful, untroubled future. The black horse invokes natural balance, protection, and the power to absorb or dispel negative forces.

The Year of the Horse welcomes vibrant energy, courage, and swift movement. Stride forward boldly to embrace new opportunities and to pursue goals with passion.

If you have a special request, prayer, or message of gratitude, write your message for the Kami on the Ema and put it up at the shrine, or at home by your kamidana.

Duration: Ema are put up for one year, after which the Kami have received your message. The old Ema are ritually burnt in January to symbolically separate you from your concerns and give you a fresh start for the year.
