What is Sit Spot? It is a practice in Forest Therapy and many other nature connection practices where you go sit for 20-30 minutes .

General Points About Sit Spot

  • Select somewhere that is close by and convenient—so you get there! Your porch or backyard is just fine. If the weather is daunting, sit by the window.

  • Safe.

  • The more biodiverse the better.

  • 20 minutes or more.

  • Just sitting is enough.

  • You may want to keep a journal. Don’t journal during your session—that is distracting. Just write a few notes at the end—what are you noticing?

How do I do it? Sit. Breathe normally. And look around you. Observe nature. Open your senses (sight, smell, touch, hearing, taste). Just “be” for 20 minutes, with no agenda or goal.
